Adding a Fee Waiver

A judge may order that a guardian's fee for filings should be waived. When this occurs, it should be recorded in their participant record so they bypass the payment fields when filing their reports through GTS. Fees can be waived for both persons and organizations.

The fee waiver can be added to a participant record if all of their cases in your county should not be assessed filing fees. However, if the fee waiver is only for specific cases in your county for the same guardian, do not record the fee waiver on the participant record. Instead, individual cases should be marked as having a fee waiver.

Adding a Fee Waiver for a Participant

To record the waiver of fees for all cases in your county for the participant, perform the following:

1. 

Under General Actions on the Dashboard, click the Manage People and Organizations link. The Participant Search screen opens.

2. 

Click on the Search By dropdown and select the appropriate option for the type of participant that is ordered to have fees waived.

3. 

Based on whether you selected Person or Organization, enter the participant's Last Name and First Name or Organization name and/or EIN. Additionally, you can limit the search to existing guardians or Pennsylvania bar attorneys by selecting the Guardians Only and/or Attorneys Only checkbox.

4. 

(Optional) Additional search criteria can be entered to limit the number of records that can be returned in a search.

5. 

Click the SEARCH button.

6. 

Review the search results and perform one of the following:

a. 

If the participant is found, click the Edit Record icon Edit Record icon that appears to the right of the individual or organization that you need to view or update. The Edit Person/Organization screen displays.

b. 

If the participant is not found, try entering different search criteria and search again. Sometimes using less search criteria can be more effective.

7. 

In the Guardian Details tab, select the Filing Fee Waiver checkbox.

8. 

Click the SAVE button to save the change to the participant record.

 

 

Adding a Fee Waiver for a Case

To record the waiver of fees on an individual case, perform the following:

1. 

Under Find a Case on your Dashboard, enter the case number and press ENTER. Optionally, if the case number is not readily available, click the Advanced Search link to locate the case. The GTS Case screen opens.

2. 

In the General Information section, select the Filing Fees Waived checkbox.

3. 

In the far right column, click the Save icon Save icon to save the change to the case.
